Day 11

I’m baking brownies for my school parties tomorrow. I’m doing an eat clean diet and it happens to be the time of the month when I’m craving chocolate like crazy. Somehow, they made it into the oven without me even tasting the batter- and brownies/batter are my faaavorite.

It’s day 11 of this new diet and this has been the biggest challenge so far. Maybe the smell coming from the oven will be satisfying enough… yea, right. ugh.

Started out with the farmer’s market. then breakfast with Ang, Peter, and Dima. then went to North Ave beach where Leslie joined. It was a day full of good food, great friends, and beautiful weather.

Wonderful Saturday. Wonderful Life.

One week of eating cleaner. Basically, we’re trying to eat food that isn’t processed, is organic, and when possible, local. This is a sampling of the restaurants that focused on more organic, local foods in Milwaukee. I asked Ben if he wanted to do this with me and he was all on board. It definitely helps to have someone else supporting me (and sometimes suffering with me) to keep me motivated. The idea wasn’t to be arrogant or hoity-toity but rather to contribute to the health of the environment and our bodies. I also selfishly needed some kind of challenge to make me feel like I could accomplish something and here’s where I settled.

The food has been really good…. well mostly- I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the raw tacos. But if you’re ever in MIlwaukee, I would highly suggest you try Cafe One24 or The National. They both provide very healthy food but you wouldn’t know it if you just ate the food- it’s that delicious.

On to week #2!

Last night I had a dream (well, nightmare for me really) that I was stuck in my past. It wasn’t so much a specific part of my past that happened as much as an overall feeling. Throughout the entire dream, I felt lost, confused, and vaguely aware that something wasn’t right. I was trying to live out my life as it was occurring, but still felt miserable at the idea that something better was out there.

When I woke up, I was overjoyed to find that this wasn’t my reality. I was so incredibly grateful that I am where I am. And in reflecting more on the dream, I began to realize how even the nature of my nightmares have changed. It seems even they are pushing me to continued growth. It’s always been a fear of mine to be “stuck” and lately, I haven’t felt freer. That’s something to be thankful for on this Wednesday.

Amazing restaurant outside of Milwaukee made even better by the fact that they only use local, sustainable foods.

Spent the day in the burbs with the Royce family, then headed back to Chi for the boy’s (he’s the furthest on the left) soccer games, and went for a run along the lake between games.

Gorgeous day/night focused on relationships, health, and lots of love.

Great Sunday.

Green City farmer’s market and homemade crustless quiche to start off this Saturday :)

Multigrain apple cinnamon pancakes with walnuts and strawberries. Great way to start my long day.
